Keeping Families Together During Difficult Divisions

Fairly choose meaningful belongings. In moments like these, sentimental value often matters more than money.

This experience, along with his own divorce, inspired David to create a system that balances Emotional Values with Monetary Values when needed—making the division process fairer, faster, and less stressful for everyone involved.

Meet the Team

David MacMahan

David MacMahan is the founder and president of FairSplit.com, long time entrepreneur and someone who challenges status quo.  Over the past fifteen years of working with families dividing estates, he is now widely recognized as the leading industry expert on estate division of personal property. He is often hired to serve as Administrator of the FairSplit process, coordinating with the executor or trustee.  The role is sometimes the independent third party mediator, to help keep tensions down between family members, and reduce the pressure on executors.

In past companies, David has created  products like Hero Hoops (front inside cover of Sharper Image for two years), cheering wastebasket basketball, The Revenger sound effects for the dash of the car, etc.  Those products sold millions of units through companies such as Sears, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Toys R Us, QVC, HSN, and major mail order companies. He and the products were featured in People, Time,  Newsweek, USA Today, on CNN and other media over the years. His first online software provided enabled retailers from Overstock, 1-800Flowers, HarryandDavid, etc. to provide an e-card with gift, image and message, letting people know “A Gift is On The Way!”.  His early company received 8th and 11th place rankings in the KPMG and MEC Fast 50 in N.C.
